Prayer in Memory to Dr. Denton Cooley- November 21, 2016

November 21, 2016 by Jack Emmott 9 Comments

Lord – I thank You for the precious legacy, life and work of Dr. Denton Cooley. Dr. Cooley was a truly great doctor, an amazing healer of hearts around the world, an even greater servant in Your Kingdom on Earth. Yet, as famous and great as he was and as deeply devoted to those he served, last Friday his own life came to end. Although his healing art had extended the lives of thousands of Your children, young and old, his death could not be prevented. This Thanksgiving there will be another empty chair at the Cooley family table18cooley-obit-web1-blog427. The family he loved and who loved him will feast in gratitude on the bounty his life made possible. At Christmas his cherished family will hang their stockings on the mantle of sorrow, but their stockings will be filled with the gift You gave to them and us when You sent Dr. Cooley to our needful world.

Because of his selfless service to God and humankind, I know that Dr. Cooley and his blessed bride, Louise, have now been reunited in heaven. I rejoice in knowing by faith that once again their two strong happy hopeful hearts are beating again as one. Thanks to the Risen Christ, his angelic work on earth will continue to operate in heaven under the everlasting light and love of God. Amen

      Amen.

I have known Jack Emmott all of my life, and he, along with his devoted wife, Dorothy have always been (and continues to be) my spiritual guide and inspiration.

Jack strengthens me when I am confused, homesick or lost; he has given me hope when things got dark. He touches everyone in a way that can only be explained by Angels that surround him.

I am so blessed to have him in my life. With love and appreciation to my dear cousin …

Oh, and I meant to pay my respect and thanks to Dr. Denton Cooley for the miraculous work he did on my beloved Father, George M. Flint, Jr., back in 1981. We, his adoring wife and 7 children were able to enjoy and learn from him for another 20 years thanks to the emergency 5-way bypass he performed on our father. Truly remarkable. ##FeelingBlessed

Beautiful prayer, Jack. He was a real giant in his field and a lovely human being as was Louise.

He was a pioneer and Houston would not be the medical center it is today without him.

This prayer is awesome. Thankyou! Daddy dedicated his life to making an impact in people’s lives and making this world a better place. He made stepping stones with his God-given bag of tools. Behind every great man, there is a great woman. My mother held down the fort for him. I love them both!
