In 2016 I wrote a poem as a prayer for every mother. God sent each of us into the world through our mothers.
Let us give thanks to God for our mothers.
If your mother is living now, express to her in your own way and your own words praise and thanksgiving.
If your mother, like mine, is looking down at you from Heaven, please say a prayer to her and let her know you remember her touch, her comfort when you were ill, and her song which is still heard in the ear of your heart.
My poem as a prayer for mothers:
Love is born
From the womb
God gave her.
Lying beside her
She sees her blessing
Clothed in innocence
And angelic beauty.
The woman who received God’s gift
Is like no other.
God gave her a special name.
He called her “mother”.
God,
On this Mother’s Day
May every mother
In the Kingdom of Christ
Hold in the manger
Of her heart
Memories of joy
And happy tears,
Of her sleeping child curled up
In the quiet, security and peace
Of a mother’s love.
Amen
