Prayer to Feel, Express and Share Joy – April 20, 2018

April 20, 2018 by Jack Emmott Leave a Comment

To my Bending Angel prayer community, I have had such interest from you as to my recent post, “Prayer to Find God in Divorce”, that I have decided to post for the next few weeks a prayer to help couples find God and His support in their difficult marriages.   Each prayer will be selected from my book, Prayerful Passages: Asking God’s Help in Reconciliation, Separation, and Divorce.

Almighty Father, I give thanks to You for the Christian counseling my spouse and I are receiving at this time.   For years, I have felt no hope or joy to share with my spouse or to show to our child/children.  With prayer and counseling, I have begun to feel the warmth of the glowing ember of renewed love in my heart.   I pray that laughter will once again be heard in our household and that our child/children can see honest signs of love and affection between us.  Amen

Prayer for Victims of Abusive Personal Relationships – January 22, 2017

January 23, 2017 by Jack Emmott 2 Comments

Heavenly Father – Today I pray to You for all Your children who are in abusive personal relationships. Many of the victims have lived so long with abuse that they do not know the difference between the darkness and the light or between love and hate. They are so accustomed to living with abuse that staying in it appears to be safer than taking courageous steps to leave it. The gravity of abuse too often overpowers the vision of the abused of ever living a life full of hope and happiness. God, please let the abused know that Your power and armor of light is greater than the cycle of abuse. Let them know that You are present to lead them along the path to peaceable and loving relationships. Please empower abusers to surrender their anger to You, so that one day they may be able to safely live and truly love others. Please help their children not create future family homes with the kind of abuse they experienced in their childhood. All this I pray in Your Holy Name. Amen.

Last Friday was the 13th anniversary of my mother’s death. Amidst the views of Spring with blooming red buds, azaleas, plum trees, bluebonnets, and daffodils, I was awash wit
