Lord – I recently flew to San Francisco with my family for summer vacation. Boarding the plane caused me to be anxious and fearful of being the first person on the scene of a major airline disaster. No, Valium was not needed. No, there were not sweats and rapid heartbeats. There were prayers.
My left brain knows that the flight is overwhelmingly safer than me driving my van to and from work. Yet, letting some strange pilot take me to my destination without me at the helm was very difficult.
My bride, Dorothy, knows that I always say the Lord’s Prayer right before takeoff and right before the landing. Then, when the impending disaster does not happen, I always remark, “Dorothy, I guess God still has plans for me?”
God, I am more comfortable when I take control of what I do, what I wear, what I eat, and where I go.
Just as I struggle with trusting the pilot, I also struggle with letting go and trusting You to take me where You want me to go in my life and the living of it on Earth.
Lord, please help me every day to get out of the cockpit of control and trust You with my heart and soul to take me where You want me to go.
In faith I believe You will take me to my final destination when my heart stops beating……..I will land in a place called forever and will bask in the light of Your eternal love. Amen
