To my Bending Angel prayer community, I have had such interest from you as to my recent post, “Prayer to Find God in Divorce”, that I have decided to post for the next few weeks a prayer to help couples find God and His support in their difficult marriages.   Each prayer will be selected from my book, Prayerful Passages: Asking God’s Help in Reconciliation, Separation, and Divorce.

Prayer for God’s Presence in Divorce

Almighty God, this is a very dark time for me and my family.  I never imagined that our marriage would end in divorce. I pledged to love my spouse until death did us part. We are both alive, but our marriage is dead.

I pray that You will forgive me and my spouse for getting a divorce. I know divorce is wrong in your Divine eyes.  In my daily prayers for forgiveness, support, and direction, please be present for me, my spouse, and our child/children.

Heavenly Father, please do not abandon me in this vale of tears. I pray that Your healing light will illuminate the darkness of divorce and that You will remain with me and those I love always and for evermore.

Amen.
